GENERAL STATISTICS

SCHEMES

A. DEEN DAYAL UPADHAYA GRAM JYOTI YOJANA (DDUGJY-NEW)

Kamrup District has long been an outlier in Assam's growth story, much of Assam's modern economic history is a tale of how natural advantages come to nothing when the force multiplier is missing: Electricity, the basic building block of any modern industrial society, was conspicuous by its absence in few parts of the District until a long time after Independence.

The rural electrification drive got a new lease of life after the implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) by the Govt. of India. The villages in extremely remote locations that remained un-electrified under the erstwhile scheme were taken up for electrification under this scheme, and on April 28, 2018, the milestone of electrifying all villages was achieved. The DDUGJY has also been crucial in providing support for strengthening sub-transmission and distribution networks in rural areas, with particular focus on the metering of distribution transformers, feeders and consumers in rural areas.

Even though the village electrification was achieved by way of DDUGJY and erstwhile schemes, left out household electrification in some habitations continued in DDUGJY-NEW Scheme.

On 28.02.2022 Kamrup District has achieved the target by providing electricity to the eligible un-electrified households (left out) through ON- GRID and OFF-GRID (Solar) mode under the scheme. PGR/VGR/NC & Forest Villages have been excluded.

B. Electrification of un-electrified Anganwadi Centre & Primary Schools:

‘’SONALI XAISHAB BIKKASHIT AXOM’’ an ambitious scheme of Govt. of Assam for

improving the education sector & observing the needs of the children, electrification of un-electrified Anganwadi Centres & Primary Schools across the state has been implemented under Ashtadash Mukutar Unnoyonee Maala Scheme.

All the un-electrified govt. Anganwadi Centres & Primary Schools under Kamrup District will be electrified through ON-GRID & OFF-GRID (Solar) mode under the scheme.
