'Bhaxa Gaurav' week (ভাষা গৌৰৱ সপ্তাহ) launched in Kamrup District.

  • Today i.e. on 3rd November, 2024, The Bhaxa Gaurav Week launched in Kamrup district centrally at Sri Sri Madhab Deb auditorium of Suren Das College, Hajo. The Hon'ble Minister, Dept. of Environment & Forests etc., Govt. of Assam Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary attended the programme as Chief Guest. Speaking at the meeting, Hon'ble Minister said that the Assamese language has gained the status of a classical language today due to the interest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the sincere efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma. He also explained the long history of the Assamese language and the development of the Assamese language over time. He also stressed the need for extensive studies and research on Assamese linguistics to take the Assamese language to the national and international levels. He also thanked the writers, scholars, intellectuals and linguists who have contributed to the evolution and development of the Assamese language which was once on the verge of extinction and brought the language to the stage of achieving the status of classical language. The minister also mentioned the contribution of Mahapurush Sri Sri Sankardeva, the founder of the Nava Vaishnava religion in Assam, to the Assamese language. During the welcome address of the meeting, the District Commissioner of Kamrup District, Shri Deba Kumar Mishra recalled the contributions of those who have been thinking for the development of Assamese language since ancient times till it gained the status of classical language. He also said that the study and research of language and literature should continue to strengthen the Assamese language and the younger generation should come forward to promote the language. The OSD to Hon'ble CM, Assam, Shri Hemanta Chodhury, also present on the occasion, said everyone should pay attention to the use of Assamese language which is recognized as a classical language. The program was attended by prominent author, writer Shri Jyoti Khatniar who explained the evolution of Assamese language in the long process of gaining classical language status and the stages considered important towards gaining classical language status. He said that after the Assamese language gets the status of a classical language, the practical aspect of the Assamese language will become stronger and at the same time it will further expand the scope of study and research on the language. During the programme, Kamrup District Administration falicitated Shri Bhusan Kalita, Shri Bhubin Rabha, Shri Deben Chandra Das of Kamrup District for their contribution to the field of language and literature of Assam through Assamese literature, translation literature, ethnic literature, etc. The meeting adopted two separate resolutions to thank those who have worked for the development of Assamese language and literature since ancient times and to thank Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi for granting classical language status to Assamese language.  The event was attended by more than 800 students, teachers and dignitaries. They also signed a letter of thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting classical language status to the Assamese language.
